The Department of ECE established in the year 2012 with 60 intakes. Since its inception the department has progressed rapidly and is now regarded as one of the premier department, with excellent infrastructure and full time faculties. It is one of the most challenging branches of engineering providing the tremendous scope in various fields. Guiding the students to excel in each of the fields and to make them well equipped to face the challenges posed by the industry, with confidence and dedication.
The department has always been interested not only in updating the curriculum, but also in enhancing the laboratory facilities to cope up with the new developments in the technologies. The department offers hands on training to the students to meet the requirement of the industry in well-equipped and laboratories with state of art instruments and equipment under the guidance of highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculties. The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) has set for itself certain standards in the form of Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) which will help in realization of the Vision and Mission of the Department. The ECE Department‘s program is designed to guide the student to achieve technical competency, effective communication and leadership skills on projects, multi-disciplinary teams, and society. To meet these goals, the ECE Program strongly integrates with the Core of Discovery and emphasizes holistic student development in accord with HETC’s Vision and Mission.
The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of the Department are:
- To provide students with a solid foundation in mathematical, scientific and electronics and communication engineering fundamentals required to solve engineering problems – thus generating core competence. This serves them lifelong in their professional domain as well as higher education.
- To inculcate a strong flavour of research activities among the students and impart them with good scientific and engineering depth and breadth of knowledge including proficiency in hardware languages, use of latest software tools, ability to apply engineering experience in designing and conducting experiments and analyze the significance of experimental data so as to comprehend, analyze, design and create novel products and provide solutions to the real life problems facing the society and humanity at large.
- To prepare the students for successful and productive career choices in both public and private sectors in the field of electronics & communication engineering or other allied engineering or other fields.

Scope & Employability
We use wide variety of electronic goods in our day to day lives. TV, mobile phones, Computers etc are some of the well known examples. Electronics and Communication engineering is involved in the design, manufacturing and maintenance of such electronic equipment.
EC Engineering not only deals with small household electronic goods. It also deals with design, manufacturing and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems used in large and medium sized industries too!
The prime focus of EC Engineering can be said to be on design, analysis and manufacturing of electronic and communication circuits. Some of the important subjects covered in this discipline include- Mobile communication, Logic design, PCB Design, Circuit Networks, Integrated circuits, Microprocessors, Communication Engineering, Signal processing, Sensors etc.
Duration of the Program
Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering is a 3 years long program. The academic program is divided into 6 semesters, with each semester lasting for a period of 6 months.
Students who have passed 10th standard are eligible to pursue this course. This course can also be pursued after 10+2 Science stream (Mathematics group)
Department concentrates on developing skills through Lay out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems, such as computer equipment, missile control instrumentation, electron tubes, test equipment, and machine tool numerical controls, applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing. Usually students work under direction of engineering staff.
The students are exposed to industry by organizing industrial visits and arranging expert lectures by personnel from industry. The suggested industry oriented-practice based minor and major projects enables the students to interact with relevant industries.
